Squash Box Ladder Rules:
- Players must be Revelstoke Racquet Den members in good standing to participate.
- Non-marking shoes must be worn at all times when in the court. Eye protection is strongly recommended.
- The most important rule of the ladder is for everyone to have fun and exhibit proper conduct and sportsmanship. The emphasis is to be on fun and fitness. Players who are found to be repeatedly causing problems will not be allowed to participate.
- A match is the best of five (5) games. Each game is to nine points, unless the score reaches eight-all. At eight-all the receiver (non-server) has to choose to play either to nine points (known as "Set One") or to ten points (known as "Set Two"). There is no requirement that a player needs to be two points ahead to win a game. Points are scored only by the server. When the server wins a rally he or she scores a point; when the receiver wins a rally he or she becomes the server.
- Ladder sessions will be three (3) weeks in length. Players are expected to complete all matches within the three week period. This is an average of one match per week in a four (4) player box. Players will be automatically entered into the next ladder session unless they email the ladder administrator with five (5) or more days notice of their intention not to participate from the start of the next session.
- Players must either contact or be contacted by other players in their boxes to arrange match times.
- Court times can be booked by calling Revelstoke Parks and Recreation at 837-9351. If you don’t book the court, there is no guarantee that the court will be free. If anyone who has not booked the court and someone who has booked the court enters the facility, the players who did not book the court should leave the court immediately at the time for which the other players have the court booked. Booking the court is strongly encouraged.
- Any matches that are not completed with the three week session will be considered a loss for both players. Please make every effort possible to complete all matches.
- Players who win their boxes will be promoted in the rankings. Players who finish last in their box will drop in the rankings. Generally, these players will either move up or down one box. However, due to players joining or dropping out of the ladder, this is not guaranteed. Players who join the ladder will be ranked according to their playing ability and placed in the most appropriate box.
- Results of matches should be emailed to scores@racquetden.com and the email should include the date of the match, the name of the winner, then name of the opponent and the score in games.
- In the event that there is a tie for the lead, or bottom of a box, the following tie breaking format will be used:
- Two (2) players tied: the winner of the match between the tied players will be ranked higher
- Three (3) players tied: the player with best games for/against in games involving tied players will be ranked higher.
Players interested in becoming part of a squash ladder or those with any questions should get in contact with Kevin Dorrius.
Scores should be transmitted via e-mail at scores@racquetden.com as soon as possible after the match.
Have fun and good luck to everyone!
